Dwr Cymru Welsh Water – AMP6 Mains cleaning programme
Ice Pigging™ was selected by DCWW as the most effective technique in cleaning both distribution and trunk mains in order to resolve customer contacts regarding discolouration. DCWW have a very ambitious programme, and in conjunction with Morrison Utility Services we have recently completed two distribution zones, Anglesey and Pembrokeshire, 535km of pipes in total, of which 31km were trunk mains. Ice Pigging™ work will continue through AMP7 and cover a large part of South Wales.
A customer in the UK Pharma sector has successfully employed Ice Pigging™ to remove biofilm from ultrapure water loops. The quality of clean provided by Ice Pigging™ meets the exacting standards of the industry.
Biofilms are a collective of one or more types of microorganisms that can stick together and grow on many different surfaces. Ultrapure water is water that has been purified to uncommonly stringent specifications. It’s treated to the highest levels of purity for all contaminant types, including: organic and inorganic compounds; dissolved and particulate matter; volatile and non-volatile, reactive and inert; hydrophilic and hydrophobic; and dissolved gases.
Ultrapure water loop systems, critical for manufacturing and medical water distribution systems, require the highest level of cleaning to reduce risk of bacterial growth. The pharmaceutical customer has installed an AQL500, an Ice Pigging™ machine, into their factory to facilitate the regular and easy cleaning of the system, maintaining their high standards.
