Cleaning the sharpest of bends and reaching the narrowest pipes

Cleaning the sharpest of bends and reaching the narrowest pipes

Sept 2021

Improving sewage pipe flow of the largest channel island between England and France (Jersey) by an average of 39% is one of the latest achievements of Ice Pigging™.

Risks of jamming or wearing down pipe thickness had the Government of Jersey pumping station infrastructure team approach SUEZ. The project which involved the cleaning of 6,800 meters of pipes lasted for 10 days and included sites with both progressive cavity and submersible pumps. The wastewater pipes’ diameters range from 32mm to 100mm.

Creating savings on costly repairs whilst eliminating a significant public nuisance is what impressed Damian Bouchet, pumping station manager for IHE Jersey. He added that regardless of the wastewater pipes’ diameters and their shape diversity – the project was completed within a short timeframe.
